A successful ZPC Meeting November 16th
Thank you to all who attended the meeting!
The text amendments were withdrawn by the commission.
On Monday November 16th the Suffield Zoning and Planning Commission will hold a public hearing and may possibly vote on proposed changes to the zoning regulations, specifically with regard to mining in Suffield. The existing regulations make it very clear that mining is not a permitted use in the Town of Suffield. So why then, are they proposing changes?
It is irresponsible of the Town to consider changing these regulations before the court rules on whether or not the permit granted to Lake Road Materials is valid. The Judge has until December 16th, but could make a ruling any day.
If you oppose the reopening of the Cannon sand mining operation, we need you to voice your opposition to the proposed amendments at the November 16th meeting and ask questions about the text amendments. Just as importantly we need you to write letters to the commission asking them to withdraw the proposed text amendments until the judge has ruled or vote against them.
Your letters are extremely important and can have a significant impact. Please take a few minutes to write to the commission at:
Mr Sheehan (current acting chairman of the ZPC)
230 C Mountain Rd.
Suffield, CT 06078

Please share this information with your friends and neighbors. The proposed changes could have a profound negative impact on our community.
